Resumo:
The present dissertation is the result of a study about the insertion of persons with physical handicap in the working market. The research focus are persons with physical handicap that, being employed by the Independent Living Center of Rio de Janeiro, work at Petrobras` Customers Service. Through a qualitative research that gave emphasis to the interviewed speech, the objective of the study was, among some others inquires, to understand the workers perceptions about their entrance in this market as well as the Company`s relevant reasons for hiring labor force from this segment considering the real benefits that they have with this sort of hiring. The results shows that the workers have an understanding that if they are working for the Petrobras it is because they are competent and qualified persons, in contradiction to the company`s speech which says that its hires are part of its social role, known as social responsibility. Indicating the recent changes that took place in the work world as a result of globalization, technological innovations, flexibilization of working agreements, among others, this research aimed to contribute to a reflection regarding the quality of the working places for persons with physical handicap, as well as the implementation of laws that assure the access of these persons to this market.
