21 | Semana de Palestras de Orientação Profissional e Acadêmica da PUC-Rio
PUC-Rio organized lectures and workshops for high school students in order to help them choose a career. The activities in Electrical Engineering included a workshop with VISIR.

 
18 | Inovações em Ensino e Aprendizagem em EE e ECA
PUC-Rio hosted an event on Innovation in Teaching and Learning in the curricula of Control & Automation Engineering and Electrical Engineering. Faculty from PUC-Rio, Celso Lisboa – Centro Universitário Celso Lisboa, UCP – Universidade Católica de Petrópolis and UERJ – Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro attended the event. Other attendees were former Deans who introduced and supported Engineering Education at PUC-Rio, staff of AGI – Agência de Inovação of PUC-Rio, students and technical staff. The Technical Director of Clube de Engenharia participated too.

 
03-06 | COBENGE
Congresso Brasileiro de Educação em Engenharia was held in Salvador, BA, from September 03 to 06. The VISIR+ Project was presented and discussed during a special session. The participants were Prof. Gustavo Alves, project manager, Prof. Ana Pavani, Prof. Juarez da Silva, Prof. Maria Isabel Pozzo, Prof. Mauro Peraça and Prof. Vanderli de Oliveria, president of ABENGE.

22 | A dissertation on the use of VISIR
A dissertation on the use of VISIR at UCP – Universidade Católica de Petrópolis was presented. UCP was one of the local partners of PUC-Rio and is located in Petrópolis, RJ, Brazil.

PUC por 1 Dia is an open house for High School students. Among the activities organized by the courses of Electrical and Control & Automation Engineering, the VISIR Project was presented as one of the innovations in Engineering Education. It was addressed in three lectures by the faculty who are in the project team.

26-29 | COBENGE (Plenary Session)
Congresso Brasileiro de Educação em Engenharia was held in Joinville, SC, from September 26 to 29. The VISIR+ Project was presented in a plenary session by Prof. Gustavo Alves, project manager, Prof. Ana Pavani, Prof. Juarez da Silva, Prof. Luis Schlichting and Ms. Lise Pate.

 
COBENGE (Training Session)
A Training Session was also held by Prof. Ana Pavani, Prof. Juarez da Silva e Prof. Simone Bilessimo; both conceptual and practical aspects were addressed.

05 | PUC por 1 Dia (Open House for High School Students)
Every year the university has an open house to high school students - PUC por 1 Dia. The 2017 edition had two activities that presented VISIR. The first was a presentation on new methods and technologies used in Engineering Education and the second a workshop using VISIR. The total attendance of the two events was approximately 80 students.

10-12 | Second Meeting with the Local Partners – TA3
The second part of Training Action 3 – Second Meeting with local partners was held from the 10th to the 12th of April. Dr. Andreas Pester and Dr. Ramona Oros, from CUAS – Carinthia University of Applied Science, were present to participate in the event. Faculty from local partners CEFET - Centro Federal de Educação Tecnológica Celso Suckow da Fonseca, IME – Instituto Militar de Engenharia, UCP - Universidade Católica de Petrópolis and UERJ - Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro were among the participants. ABENGE was there too. The event was opened by Prof. Luiz Scavarda do Carmo, one of the Vice-Rectors of PUC-Rio.

 
03-04 | VISIR in the Introduction to Electrical Engineering Course
The Teaching Assistants of the Introduction to Electrical Engineering course are trained to start using VISIR in this hands on activity.

20-24 | General Electricity Classes Start Training the Use of VISIR
The course of General Electricity offers 14 laboratory classes. In the week March 20-24 the General Electricity Lab team started training the students on the use of the equipment so that experiments of the syllabus can be performed.

06 | Second Event with Students
Students at PUC-Rio used the VISIR at Sistema Maxwell (www.maxwell.vrac.puc-rio.br) to develop an extra-curricular activity. It was developed in three steps:
(1) use of software to simulate the experiments;
(2) use VISIR to experiment online in Sistema Maxwell; and
(3) repeat the experiments at the traditional lab.

18 | First Meeting with the Local Partners
The first meeting with the local partners was held at PUC-Rio. There were faculty members from CEFET - Centro Federal de Educação Tecnológica Celso Suckow da Fonseca, UCP - Universidade Católica de Petrópolis and UERJ - Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro. VISIR was presented as well as the implementation of the project at PUC-Rio. The next steps for the cooperation among institutions were discussed too.

18-22 | 2nd Project General Meeting and CISPEE
The 2nd Project General Meeting was held in Porto, Portugal, and in Vila Real, Portugal, in parallel with CISPEE - The 2nd International Conference of the Portuguese Society for Engineering Education. The Project team had submitted an article and it was chosen best paper of the conference tied with another.

 
13-14 | Integration of VISIR and the Maxwell System
After the technical/technological integration of VISIR and the Maxwell System, the functional integration was achieved.

26-30 | COBENGE
COBENGE - Congresso Brasileiro de Educação em Engenharia was held in Natal, RN, from September 26 to 30. The VISIR+ Project was presented by Prof. Gustavo Alves, project manager, during one of the plenary sessions. It was also one of the topics of a Sessão Dirigida entitled Laboratórios Remotos no Ensino de Engenharia - the PUC-Rio team presented an article called Implantação de um Laboratório Remoto: um Projeto de Múltiplas Facetas.

 
05-06 | TA2
The CUAS and IRICE team came to Rio for Training Action 2. Faculty, graduate and undergraduate students, and technical staff worked with the visiting team.

31 / 01-02 | VISIR and the Maxwell System
After the installation of VISIR was finished and tested, VISIR was connected to the Maxwell System. The connection was tested too and the two systems are communicating.

13 | Demo Using CUAS’ VISIR
The first activity using VISIR with students at PUC-Rio will be held on May 20. On May 13, a demo was presented to faculty interested in Remote Labs.

01-03 | Kick Off Meeting at BTH
BTH – Blekinge Institute of Technology hosted the kick off meeting of the project. Teams from all institutions attended the meeting and introduced themselves to each other. There were technical sessions on remote labs and on VISIR. The experiences of the European institutions that already used VISIR were presented too. Besides the technical work, the visit to the beautiful city of Karlskrona and its wonderful MarinMuseum (http://www.marinmuseum.se/en/) was very enjoyable.

04 | An Important Visit to PUC-Rio
Mr. Clivio Casali, a program manager for the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency of the European Union, visited PUC-Rio and was introduced to the proejct team; the team portfolio was presented to Mr. Casali as well as the main characteristics of the VISIR equipment and project. Prof. Luiz Carlos Scavarda do Carmo, one of PUC-Rio’s Vice-Presidents, and Prof. Nival Nunes, President of ABENGE, attended the meeting too.
