This work reviews the literature on the subject of distance learning, describing the implantation of key distance learning processes in UniCarioca, a brazilian higher education institution located in Rio de Janeiro, considering material, human, technological and mercadological resources. It is provided a contextualization of UniCarioca in the higher education market and, after situation diagnosis, it proposes a set of measures for process improvement in the institution.
