Resumo:
Conventional urban drainage considers the set of infrastructures whose primary function is the efficient and rapid conveyance of stormwater. The failure of the technical solutions traditionally adopted in urban drainage projects has required a new approach to the subject, namely stormwater management, with the aim of addressing urban flooding by incorporating social dynamics and the planning of a multisectoral system in the search for effective solutions. Compounding this failure is the irregular discharge of untreated domestic sewage into the drainage system. Among the stormwater management systems, constructed wetlands are one of the nature-based solutions (NbS) that have gained prominence due to their ability to retain and treat stormwater, as well as to promote soil infiltration. The study area is the Parque Orla Piratininga, located at the Piratininga Lagoon, in the municipality of Niterói, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, where the constructed wetlands system was implemented with the goal of restoring the local ecosystem and promoting the region s socio-environmental development. The hydraulic performance of this solution has been little explored, particularly in the context of extreme events and the potential impacts of climate change. Accordingly, the present study aims to evaluate the performance of the constructed wetlands system in Parque Orla Piratininga under scenarios of intense precipitation, while also considering the impacts of climate change, particularly the projected increase in rainfall intensity and mean sea level. In this context, the methodology involves hydrological and hydrodynamic simulation to assess the local rainfall regime, climate change effects, and the behavior of the water level in the Piratininga Lagoon, making it possible to simulate future operating scenarios for the system. The study validated the efficiency of the constructed wetlands under different hydrological conditions, considering their performance under scenarios that stress the operational capacity of the system.
