Resumo:
Paraffin, a complex mixture of hydrocarbons, plays a crucial role in the oil and gas industry, it presents challenges due to its complex nature, varying properties, and tendency to precipitate and adhere to production components, leading to decreased efficiency and increased operating costs. Paraffin deposition in oil wells is a long-standing problem, causing reduced production rates, blockages in flow conduits, and the need for costly removal processes. The troublesome paraffins, ranging from C18H38 to C38H78, can lead to severe inefficiencies in the oil recovery system, resulting in billions of dollars in losses within the petroleum industry annually. This study focuses on the utilization of a high-power laser to help develop underwater paraffin removal technique, which utilizes a high-power laser to increase the temperature and melt the paraffin. The research aims to address the challenges posed by paraffin in the oil and gas industry by offering a potential solution for efficient paraffin removal. The technique has the potential to remove paraffin deposition, reduce downtime, and lower operating costs, thereby contributing to improved operational efficiency in the oil and gas sector.
