Resumo:
This work aims to analyze the tensions acting on a disc brake system present in the Basilísco prototype, a Baja SAE vehicle developed by the Reptiles Baja PUC-Rio Team shortly after the COVID-19 pandemic. For this study, the thermal and mechanical stresses present in the rear brake disc of the prototype were considered and, from the results, an optimized geometry of this component was proposed, focusing on an expressive mass reduction, used in its manufacture. The following softwares were used for the development of the project: SolidWorks [20], for manipulation of the geometry of the brake disc, and Ansys Workbench [19], for the accomplishment of thermal simulations, static structural and the topological optimization of the studied component, which use the finite element method to achieve stress and strain distribution maps in the structure with the application of boundary conditions. With a new geometry obtained for the rear brake disc, thermal and structural validations were carried out to ensure that the integrity of the component wouldn t be compromised, as it is a vehicle safety system.
