This study aims to identify the intercultural competences developed based on the
perception of students who graduated in Business Administration from the
Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-RIO) and participated in
long-term academic exchange programs. To achieve this objective, the study
considered the dimensions of intercultural competence (ROSS et al., 2009 and
GUEDES NETO et al., 2016). According to the students accounts, statements
were identified that indicated the development of the six dimensions of
intercultural competence. The interviewees demonstrated adaptability in dealing
with challenges throughout the exchange program and actively engaged with
both local and international students, seeking to understand and respect their cultural perspectives and establish connections with them. Furthermore, they also
exhibited emotional control when dealing with conflicts.
