This study aimed to analyze the Blockchain and the strategies of use in the
legal sector, focusing on Intellectual Property. For this, a qualitative research was
applied, containing 10 questions, interviewing eleven lawyers from offices of
different market sizes. An interview was also carried out with a lawyer from a
software company for Intellectual Property that uses Blockchain technology. It
was analyzed whether the Blockchain is capable of generating competitive
advantage, based on the theory of Resource-Based View and using the VRIO
model. It was concluded that the resource studied does not offer sustainable competitive advantage in the legal sector. However, given the value it offers
portrayed in the surveys, in the long term there may be a competitive
disadvantage if companies do not adapt to innovations.
