Resumo:
The aviation market is responsible for a share of the transportation of goods and people in global scale. Air companies, with the goal of maintaining competitiveness, focus in opportunities of maintenance costs reduction. This manuscript describes an assembly procedure modification, with the objective of increasing its life cycle. The intervention regards the redistribution of fuel nozzles inside the combustion chamber. The new distribution aims to compensate for fuel flow rate discrepancies inside the module, homogenizing the combustion along the chamber. First, a thermodynamic analysis was developed to describe the different modules comprising the engine, seeking to determine their energetic efficiency. Tests were conducted in test cells before and after the proposed intervention following procedures prescribed by the engine s manufacturers, thus ensuring the normalization of the results for comparison purposes. The results showed a decrease in combustion temperatures, which indicate a longer lifespan for the modified engines.
