Resumo:
An optical signal introduced by a laser into an optical fiber can have its polarization state strongly affected by the fiber characteristics. Many applications in the field of optical communications have their performance significantly compromised by such changes. This context highlights the importance of devices aimed at ensuring the control of the polarization, such as those based on lithium niobate, which present a high stability and a low thermal coefficient. However, to operate properly, this device requires relatively high excitation voltages and it must provide rapid response times, in order to make communication viable. Thus, this work aims at developing a control driver for a polarization controller, providing an effective mechanism for the adjustment of polarization.
