Resumo:
This work uses Ward equivalents to solve load flow problems in planning and operation of electric power systems. The use of equivalents is mainly due to the necessity to reduce computational effort on power flow problems and the lack of complete and updated information of the transmission network. A Matlab program was developed to calculate the Ward equivalent: nonlinear model. The same program also calculates the power flow solution using the fast decoupled method, which has better computational efficiency than other traditional methods. The performance of the equivalent was evaluated in contingency analysis of transmission lines and loads.
