Resumo:
The present thesis addresses the metamorphoses of urban space and, consequently, the metamorphoses of the city, based on a new condition: instagramization. To this end, our research considers the spatio temporal conditions that have enabled the emergence of an increasingly digitized and financialized world, which form the foundation for the instagramization of the urban. Accordingly, the first chapter is dedicated to investigating the so-called instagrammable space, articulating its materialities (the bricks) and its immaterialities (the bits). Given a reality increasingly spectacularized and mediated by images, it is essential to discuss the role of the image in the production of urban space—a theme explored in the second chapter, as innovations in marketing—such as city branding—have increasingly contributed to capitalist accumulation processes. Finally, the last chapter is devoted to the theoretical and methodological grounding of our thesis: instagramization has played a role in the reproduction of urban space, mobilizing land rent and informational rent to support financialized accumulation circuits.
