Resumo:
This dissertation offers a critical analysis of filmmaker David Cronenberg s body of work, focusing on its many intersections with culture. The aim is to highlight the contemporary challenges his films consistently raise and confront, examining both how his work responded in unique ways to the issues of each period in his career and why it remains relevant today in light of current aesthetic and political concerns. The dissertation follows the director s trajectory through thematic lenses designed to bring coherence to the stylistic elements and political undercurrents that run throughout his filmography. His films are analyzed and placed in context within the evolution of his career, with Cronenberg s own body of work serving as the guiding thread around which key questions and reflections are built.
