Resumo:
The study aims to identify Amigos do Meio Ambiente Project applicability on critical environmental education of high school students at President Castelo Branco State School in the city of Manaus. It will contribute as scientific reference to high schools in the city of Manaus to Critical Environmental Education, which has already shown many environment al problems. To achieve this goal, we proceeded to the analysis of primary and secondary sources to achieve (i) identify the actions taken by the AMA project with President Castelo Branco State School students (ii) verify the project influence on students critical posture in relation to discussion and participation in dealing with the environment. The research is a study case with descriptive analysis - explanatory and qualitative. The results show that there is an intention to practice Critical Environmental Education, but it requires a depth that should get the content taught in the classroom in order to encourage understanding about the importance of community participation with knowledge questioning power about environmental problems. Making the project relevant AMA serve as a reference to public schools in the city of Manaus.
