Resumo:
Petrobras – the company’s name itself is a proof of its identification with Brazil. The paper: The representation of Brazilians in Petrobras advertisement, aims to investigate the speech the company uses to represent Brazilians over more than 50 years of its history. The paper will embrace the main ads of Petrobras Holding and Petrobras Distribution on national territory over the last decades. On this dissertation, we will study the symbols utilized by Petrobras to show it is a Brazilian company and how the Brazilian way of life was explored. We will exam the representation of how it is like to be a Brazilian and if the idea of brasilidade has changed over the different decades throughout the history. The historical and political moments of Brazil’s history will also be analyzed, so we can see if the company’s advertisement policy has suffered any alteration, since Petrobras is mixed capital company, but which’s image is strongly associated to the Federal Government. The discourse and logics of advertisement industry will also be analyzed.
