Resumo: | |||||||||||||
This research identifies different manifestations of silence, related to
violence and spoliation of the black body, in the poem Cemitério Marinho (2019),
by Edimilson de Almeida Pereira, and in the novel O Avesso da Pele (2020), by
Jeferson Tenório. The dissertation seeks to approach possible concepts for the
different processes of silencing black people that take into account the various
dimensions of the experience of black people in contemporary Brazil, such as the
use of language, reconfiguration of memory, identity awareness, culture and
necropolitics, along the lines defined by Achille Mbembe. Therefore, the research
dialogues with theories such as the analysis of silence proposed by Eni Orlandi, the
Poetics of the Relation (2021) by Édouard Glissant, the diaspora of The Black
Atlantic (2001), by Paul Gilroy, the proposal of new bases for an Afro-diasporic
aesthetic, by Edimilson de Almeida Pereira, and the uses of memory, according to
Aleida Assmann. The research suggests the validity of reading silences as a method
of critical analysis of contemporary Brazilian literature.
