Resumo:
Logistics, accompanied by new technologies, provides competitive advantage since it plays a significant role in adding value to any item being negotiated. The search for opportunities lead many companies to invest in innovation, searching for developing new business models and strategies. The perspective is that a great change in supply chain management is provided through the widespread adoption of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology. This technology should be seen as an additional method of identification to be used in applications where bar codes and other identification technologies commonly used do not meet all the demands. This arrangement can also accommodate the use of further different identification methods. RFID technology provides better traceability, visibility and information sharing between trading partners regarding the assets within each stage of manufacture, transport and storage in a supply chain. In this context, this study aims at examining the feasibility of the application of RFID technology in the Warehouse of the Depot of Subsistence of the Navy in Rio de Janeiro – DepSubMRJ, maintaining the compatibility with current systems already in place, identifying the opportunities most relevant to the structure of the DepSubMRJ logistics. We end this dissertation by concluding that the use of RFID is viable for the purpose here studied.
