Resumo:
The electric vehicle market (EVs) shows a strong growth trend in the coming years and are expected to contribute to the development of sustainable transport systems (IEA, 2021). Some aspects of EVs such as battery recharge time, mileage range and high cost compared to vehicles with combustion engines (ICVs) represent important constraints, but it has been advancing rapidly with its technological development. A central problem for a higher penetration of EVs is related to the implementation of infrastructure networks for refueling batteries. This research develops optimization methodologies and models to support the planning of battery refueling infrastructures in EV networks. Location-routing models, integrating strategic decisions for the design of infrastructure networks and operational decisions for vehicle routing, are used as a reference and implemented considering different technological scenarios. Other aspects such as battery degradation and state of charge, different infrastructure and recharge modes, heterogeneous fleets and uncertainty in demand are incorporated into the models. Given the complexity of factors related to the planning of recharge infrastructures, the use of mathematical models and advanced optimization methods applied to the problem constitute an important tool to support the decision process in the search for efficient and viable solutions for its development.
