[pt] A presente pesquisa pretende compreender, a partir do conceito necrogovernamentalidade cunhado por Fábio Luis Franco, as vicissitudes da Crise da Aids nos Estados Unidos da América e as diferentes respostas da arte e do ativismo estado-unidense. O conceito de Franco possibilita uma compreensão expandida da tradição da biopolítica que perpassa por Michel Foucault, Giorgio Agamben, Achille Mbembe e a atualiza ao associá-la aos estudos de Judith Butler sobre melancolia e a política do luto. A necrogovernamentalidade é, como veremos, um vínculo entre a morte e o poder do Estado que gerencia a subjetividade e o luto. Ao ser associada com o conceito, podemos perceber a administração da crise da aids como uma gestão que julgou as vida de minorias sociais e, principalmente, as vida de pessoas LGBT+, às quais esse estudo se dedica, como inservíveis, dispensáveis: vidas consideradas inúteis para o Estado que, através da impossibilidade e da invisibilidade das vidas e de seu luto, produziu uma melancolização generalizada esvaziando-as de sentido e estigmatizando-as até no momento da morte. A relação com a arte e ativismo surge da tentativa de compreender como esse corpo sociocultural respondeu diante desse tempo de ruína, como buscou recuperar a subjetividade, dignidade e memória. Os coletivos ACT UP e NAMES Project, assim como Nan Goldin e Felix Gonzalez-Torres, responderam à crise e a melancolização imposta ao desafiar a dessubjetivação e ao propor novos modos de enfrentamento, testemunho e inscrição na memória coletiva.

[en] This research aims to understand, through the concept of necrogovernmentality coined by Fábio Luis Franco, the vicissitude of the AIDS crisis in the United States of America and the different responses from its art and activism. Franco s concept expands the tradition of biopolitics, engaging with works of Michel Foucault, Giorgio Agamben, and Achille Mbembe, while incorporating Judith Butler s studies on melancholy and the politics of mourning. Necrogovernmentality, as we will see, represents an association between death and state power, which regulates subjectivity and grief. Through this lens, the administration of the AIDS crisis can be understood as a form of governance that deemed the lives of social minorities - and primarily the lives of LGBT+ people, to whom this study dedicates - as worthless and expendable: lives considered disposable by the state, which, by rendering them invisible and denying their right to mourning, fostered a pervasive melancholization, depriving them of recognition and future stigmatizing them even in death. The relation between art and activism emerges from an effort to examine how these communities responded to such devastation, striving to reclaim subjectivity, dignity and memory. The collectives ACT UP and the NAMES Project, as well as artists Nan Goldin and Félix Gonzalez-Trres, confronted the crisis and its imposed melancholization by resisting desubjectivation and proposing new forms of defiance, testimony and collective remembrance.
