[pt] Os resíduos sólidos sempre estiveram presentes no dia a dia de nossas residências, e, não diferente de nossas residências, eles também são gerados nos estabelecimentos comerciais e industriais. Sendo assim, as grandes embarcações, tanto os navios de turismo, quanto os que transportam nossos bens de consumo e exploram de maneira offshore, também são geradores de resíduos e estes precisam ser gerenciados de forma a minimizar os impactos negativos no meio ambiente. Os portos, que são um elo da cadeia logística são locais de apoio às grandes embarcações que carregam e descarregam suas cargas e também não deixam de gerar resíduos. Já as ilhas são regiões que se localizam geograficamente isoladas, cercadas por água por todos os lados e também precisam ter uma estratégia em relação aos seus resíduos. Estes locais tem em comum o fato de estarem próximos a ambientes costeiros e marítimos, necessitarem de disposição final em terra e terem custos elevados em relação ao gerenciamento de seus resíduos devido as longas distancias que devem percorrer até sua destinação final. Para compreender melhor esses mecanismos, se fez necessária uma pesquisa que apontou que a cooperação de todas as partes envolvidas, técnicas especificas para esses tipos de operações, equipamentos e diversos outros fatores integrados podem colaborar para uma gestão de resíduos mais eficiente e ambientalmente mais correta.

[en] It is known that the generation of waste due to activities carried out by man dates back to ancient times, with records in ancient civilizations. As man left nomadic life and settled in cities, the accumulation and disposal of waste generated became a problem to be solved. This work intends to analyze the solid waste that has always been present in the daily life of our homes, and not unlike our homes, they are also generated in commercial, industrial and many other establishments. Therefore, large vessels, tourism ships or those that transport our consumer goods and explore offshore, are also waste generators and they need to be managed in order to avoid pollution in the oceans and also to be treated in their various forms of treatments or final destinations. Talking about ships may seem simple, however the bureaucracy and difficulties related to the operation can mean that what seems simple requires a certain amount of knowledge. Legislation and operational practice, as they real on different variables, such as tide, navigability, and winds that may require more technical knowledge from those who work in this industry. Regarding to ports, they are a link in the logistics chain, which help ships, both to embark and disembark cargo and/or personnel. Therefore, they are also waste generators and need to comply with the compliance established by law to obtain their operating licenses. The islands, in turn, also known as insular areas, are regions that are geographically located surrounded by water and need to have a strategy in relation to the waste generated. These often rely on seasonality, as many of them live off tourism, and must always take care of their space, which is directly linked to the local economy, the health of the population that lives these areas, well-being, etc.
