Resumo
[pt] O romance é um centro de disputa política fundamental no contexto da modernidade, atravessado pelos prismas de governamentalidade e de contraconduta. Os processos característicos da indústria cultural acentuaram a importância política do romance, tendo em vista a conversão da arte em um produto feito pela técnica capitalista, informado pela racionalidade capitalista, a ser entregue para a população massificada. O estudo sobre essa forma literária evidencia como os romances são mobilizados pelo poder como um meio de difusão de verdades, mas esse governo não se apresenta como uma totalidade do texto literário: o romance também pode apresentar o que há de ingovernável na sociedade que administra os mais diversos campos da vida, sobretudo as condutas de sua população: o objeto de interesse fundamental do Estado moderno.
Resumo
[en] The novel is a fundamental center of political dispute in the context of modernity, crossed
by the prisms of governmentality and counter-conduct. The processes characteristic of the
culture industry have accentuated the political importance of the novel, in view of the
conversion of art into a product made by capitalist technique, informed by capitalist
rationality, to be delivered to the mass population. The study of this literary form
shows how novels are mobilized by power as a means of disseminating truths, but this government does not present itself as a totality of the literary text: the novel can also present what is ungovernable in the society that manages the most diverse fields of life, above all the conduct of its population: the fundamental object of interest of the modern state.
