[pt] O Papa Francisco propõe uma reforma da Igreja que possa levá-la à redescoberta da essência de sua missão. Tal missão parte do anúncio e do testemunho de Jesus Cristo. Porém, trata-se de um anúncio baseado numa cristologia integral, que leva em conta todas as dimensões do humano, corpo e alma, indivíduo e sociedade. Faz parte desse testemunho renovado o compromisso da Igreja com a paz social. Considerando que o conflito é um elemento inerente à vida social, Francisco preconiza a construção de povos onde a dignidade de cada pessoa e o valor das diferenças sejam preservados, enxergando o conflito como algo natural e que pode ser superado sem violência, com criatividade e visando fortalecer ainda mais os laços comunitários. É o que ele chama de Cultura do Encontro. Partindo dessa premissa, o instituto da mediação de conflitos, saber interdisciplinar redescoberto nos anos 1960 e que ajuda a superar uma abordagem meramente adversarial no âmbito da Justiça, pode ser um instrumento importante na consecução da Cultura do Encontro. Por outro lado, aqueles profissionais comprometidos com a implantação de uma nova cultura da mediação, superando o espírito competitivo e litigante tão presente no campo do Direito, podem encontrar no embasamento teórico-prático oferecido por Francisco um poderoso aliado.

[en] Pope Francis s pontificate proposes a reform of the Church that can lead to the rediscovery of the essence of its mission. This mission starts from the proclamation and testimony of Jesus Christ. It is an announcement based on integral Christology and includes all the dimensions of the human being, body and soul, as an individual and as a society. This reform is a commitment of the Church to social peace. Whereas conflict is part of social life, Francis advocates the construction of peoples where the dignity of each person and the value of differences are preserved, seeing conflict as something natural and that can be overcome without violence, with creativity and aiming to further strengthen community ties. It is what he calls the Culture of Encounter. Based on this premise, the institute of conflict mediation, interdisciplinary knowledge rediscovered in the 1960s and that helps to overcome a merely adversarial approach in the field of justice, can be an important instrument in the achievement of the Culture of Encounter. On the other hand, those professionals committed to the implementation of a new culture of mediation, overcoming the competitive and litigative spirit so present in the field of Law, can find in the theoretical-practical foundation offered by Francis a powerful ally.
