[pt] Nas décadas de 1930 e 1940, Cesare Pavese viveu um intenso processo de mutação antropológica e literária extremamente importante, quando começou a ler a cultura italiana a contrapelo por meio de outras culturas, especialmente a norte-americana. O poeta encontrou, portanto, uma forma de ligar sua paixão pelo mundo simbólico mitológico arcaico aos seus estudos de autores contemporâneos anglo-americanos. Nesse percurso de intenso estudo, a tarefa da tradução se torna essencial para a atualização de novos mitos e de novas formas literárias capazes de provocar uma transfiguração da realidade. Assim, este artigo aborda o percurso da virada antropológica vivida pelo autor de Il mestiere di vivere e tradutor de Moby Dick.

[en] In the 1930s and 1940s, Cesare Pavese underwent an intense process of anthropological and literary mutation when he began to read Italian culture against the grain via other cultures, especially American culture. Therefore, the poet learned how to link his passion for the archaic symbolic mythological world to his studies of contemporary Anglo-American authors. Throughout this intense study, the task of translation becomes essential for updating new myths and new literary forms capable of bringing about a transfiguration of reality. Thus, this article addresses the path of the anthropological turn experienced by the author of Il mestiere di vivere and translator of Moby Dick.
