Resumo
[pt] Quem pode representar a condição humana? Imagens, mitos e hierarquias
na cultura brasileira é um estudo que apresenta a ideia de que diversos arquétipos
herdados através da cultura nacional, pautados em hierarquizações que têm como
base o conceito de raça (enquanto constructo social), inferiorizam pessoas negras e
as destitui de sua humanidade. Tal fato produz consequências que vão desde
entraves para a realização plena da cidadania e da democracia até a radical
impossibilidade de existir. Caminhos de valorização da memória, da história, da
literatura, da arte e das contranarrativas negras são propostos como forma de
restituição e subversão de um longo processo de desumanização, exclusão e
violência.
Resumo
[en] Who can represent the human condition? Images, myths, and hierarchies in
Brazilian culture is a study that presents the idea that several archetypes inherited
through the national culture, based on hierarchizations determined by the concept
of race (as a social construct), depreciate Black people, and deprive them of their
humanity. This fact produces consequences ranging from obstacles to the full
realization of citizenship and democracy to the radical impossibility of existing.
Paths for valuing Black memory, history, literature, art, and counter-narratives are
proposed as a way of restitution and subversion of a long process of
dehumanization, exclusion, and violence.
