[pt] Em 1993, o Conselho Mundial de Igrejas, na sua seção fé e constituição, iniciou um estudo sobre a relação entre a eclesiologia e a ética nas diversas denominações cristãs. Naquela ocasião, o documento Costly Unity marcou a proposta de conceber a Igreja como uma comunidade moral que serve a justiça, a paz e a integridade da criação. No ambiente católico, a proposta teve duas reações, por um lado, estavam os teólogos que acreditavam essa acepção ser verdadeira devido à crescente importância da Doutrina Social da Igreja para a evangelização; por outro lado, estavam os pensadores que mencionavam não ser apropriado dar à ética o peso que, propriamente, deveria ser da Eucaristia. Neste momento em que a Igreja reflete novamente sobre seu modo apropriado de existir no mundo contemporâneo, este artigo se propõe a seguinte questão: é possível entender a Igreja como comunidade moral a partir da eclesiologia do Concílio Vaticano II? Para responder esta pergunta, o artigo se divide em duas partes, respectivamente intituladas, o sentido eclesio-ético da origem trinitária da Igreja, o sentido eclesio-ético da relação entre carisma e hierarquia.

[en] In 1993, the World Council of Churches, in its faith and constitution section, began a study on the relationship between ecclesiology and ethics in the various Christian denominations. On that occasion, the document Costly Unity marked the proposal to conceive of the Church as a moral community that serves justice, peace and the integrity of creation. In the Catholic environment, the proposal met with two reactions: on the one hand, there were theologians who believed it to be true due to the growing importance of the Church s Social Doctrine for evangelization; on the other hand, there were thinkers who mentioned that it was not appropriate to give ethics the weight that should properly be given to the Eucharist. At a time when the Church is once again reflecting on its appropriate way of existing in the contemporary world, this article poses the following question: is it possible to understand the Church as a moral community from the ecclesiology of the Second Vatican Council? To answer this question, the article is divided into two parts, respectively entitled, the ecclesio-ethical sense of the Trinitarian origin of the Church, and the ecclesio-ethical sense of the relationship between charisma and hierarchy.
