Resumo
[pt] Partindo da preocupação de Primo Levi com se fazer
compreender pelo seu público leitor, este artigo
pretende analisar a recepção italiana de A tabela
periódica. Para realizar a análise, foram selecionadas
mais de vinte resenhas publicadas em periódicos
italianos entre 1975 e o início de 1976, às quais
se aplicou a metodologia da recepção de Wolfgang
Iser, que entendeu a formação de sentido de um livro
a partir de três etapas: (a) apreensão do livro
nas críticas, nas quais tentarei identificar padrões
de análise; (b) as estruturas de elaboração do livro,
que tentarei identificar a partir de um paralelo com
o romance A História, de Elsa Morante (1974); (c) a
função do livro, etapa na qual a intencionalidade
autoral permite um reordenamento da apreensão e
das estruturas de elaboração.
Resumo
[en] The article aims to analyze the reception of The Periodic Table in Italy, based on Primo Levi s concern with making himself understood by his readers. Although the book does not belong to testimonial literature, the topic may also be addressed. To conduct the analysis, more than twenty reviews were selected, published in Italian periodicals from 1975 to early 1976, applying Wolfgang Iser’s reception theory, which posits the formation of a book s meaning in three stages: (a) the book s reception in reviews, where I will attempt to identify patterns of analysis; (b) the structures for the book s elaboration, which I will attempt to identify based on a parallel with Elsa Morante s History: A Novel (1974);
and (c) the book s role, the stage in which authorial
intentionality allows a reordering of the reception
and the structures for elaboration.
