[pt] O artigo defende a utilização do conceito de função testemunhal utilizado pelo escritor italiano Daniele del Giudice no prefácio às obras completas de Primo Levi, com a função de valorizar principalmente o aspecto literário da obra de Levi. A função testemunhal alcança retrospectivamente toda a literatura, como mostra Shoshana Felman e, portanto, mostra que nossa civilização e nossa leitura precisam incluir, junto à herança clássica, aquela judaica. A função testemunhal se torna, portanto, sob vários aspectos, uma herança da Shoá na crítica literária.

[en] This paper makes the case for the notion oftestimonial function, introduced by Italian writer Daniele del Giudice in his preface to the complete works of Primo Levi as a way of foregrounding the literary aspects of Levi s work. In retrospect, as argued by Shoshana Felman, this testimonial function can be said to inform literature as whole, which suggests that our civilization and our reading must embrace not only classical, but also Jewish inheritances. In many respects, we argue, this testimonial function becomes an inheritance of the Shoah in literary criticism.
