This dissertation addresses the issue of migratory displacement in Rio das Pedras, a favela in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro, and investigates how the concept of permanence contributes to the field of studies on mobilities. The research is based on an empirical work that uses the participant observation technique and the trajectory analysis methodology, in addition to a review of the theoretical literature. The historical context focuses on a period of intense migratory flow from the Northeastern states to the city of Rio de Janeiro, during a phase of significant expansion in the sectors of civil construction and services. The objective of the investigation is to reflect on the affectionsand feelings that arise as a result of displacement, considering that this phenomenon is not limited only to the spatial dimension, but also relates to the subjective and social scope. In this way, other transversal themes that contribute to the understanding of permanencies are analyzed, such as the role of memory as an explanatory element of the movement of trajectories. Furthermore, we examine the production of moralities and their impact on the creation of sociability. Finally, we investigate how these aspects are manifested in the specific context of territoriality, taking into account the challenges of urban violence in contemporary society.
