The recent years in, Chile have witnessed an intense political cycle that has garnered global attention due to its ever-changing and, at times, contradictory nature. The country has undergone significant political and social transformations, from the social uprising in 2019 to the rejection of the new constitution in the recent plebiscite. In this article, we aim to analyze and understand the phenomenon of the rejection of the new constitution, one of the main demands of the social movement known as #ChileDespertó (#ChileAwakens). We use a qualitative methodology that includes a content analysis of media sources, institutional documents, academic articles, and photographs. We seek to unravel the complexities of this political process and provide a comprehensive understanding of the social, cultural, and political dynamics that have shaped this ongoing cycle of transformation. This research seeks to contribute to the academic discourse on political transformations and social movements, especially in the Chilean context. Our main goal is to analyze the reasons for rejecting the new constitution, providing a multidimensional perspective on this political process. This includes addressing criticism of the constituent process within the movement itself, the role of the media and the convention members, as well as the role of the government.
