The present study aimed to identify and highlight the role of BNDES, as a Brazilian development bank, in facing the climate change crisis. To this end, a bibliographic survey was carried out on the subject, focusing on the concepts of sustainable development, corporate sustainability, and socio-environmental responsibility, forming a theoretical basis around the general concept of sustainability. After completing the bibliographic stage, a case study was made on BNDES, seeking to understand its scope of action and commitment to sustainability as part of its raison d être as an organization, and then 5 examples of projects/programs in which the bank invested and focused on helping to face climate change were chosen for analysis. Finally, by relating the analysis of these strategies with the bibliographic stage, a conclusion was reached regarding what kind of role the BNDES has, as a Brazilian development bank, in confronting climate change. It was concluded, therefore, that the bank has an inductive and active role in this climate crisis, acting in accordance with the concepts of CSR and sustainable development. However, some questions regarding the extent of its action were raised and suggestions were made both for the organization and for future studies.
