The present study intends to identify and to examine possible motivations for unification of five companies in Carrapeta group. The companies studied here are localized in the mountainous region of the state of Rio de Janeiro and works in the retail of products of construction and leisure.
Through interviews with the partners and literature review, the paper identifies the features and differences in management styles among each partner, and the requirements for unification of these successful group of companies, concluding whether the group is or is not prepared for this process.
