The contrast between the Brazilian huge solar potential and its small share of the photovoltaic global market raise a lot of questions. Charting the electric potentiality and conjecture, observing its economic and technical viability, it s the main goal that this study seeks to explore. Therewith, it is intended to show the photovoltaic energy basic concepts, evaluate the Brazilian and global market economics and, lastly, analyze the irradiation intermittence of a Brazilian city, and its potential for electric generation. In order to elaborate these analysis, two different methodologies, based on Cuiaba s capital city data, were addressed. Firstly, local irradiation data were interpreted by exploring Markov Chains. Afterwards, a specialized software was used to estimate the photovoltaic generation capacity, encompassing the region thermal characteristics. Therefore, the economic analysis predictions revealed an optimistic conjecture to the electric sector, despite the lack of stimulus, due to ICMS 6 agreement. As for the data analysis results, Cuiabá city has a big viability for photovoltaic generation, even with the power losses associated mainly with high temperatures.
