Resumo:
The main goal of the present work is to check the viability of construction of a manually operated PET shredding machine. PET stands for polyethylene terephthalate. PET is the material of which are made the bottles of soft drinks that contains gas, like sodas. The objective of shredding PET is to give more financial value to this material that can be found in residential and in the industrial garbage. The kilogram of the PET shredded into the size of flakes is commercialized at the price of R$ 1,70, while the non- shredded kilogram of the same material is priced at R$ 0,70. It is quite obvious that this could be a good source of income for needy families. The flake is the standard size of the shredded pieces of PET. The approximated dimensions of this flake are the one of a 9 milimeter disc with the width of a bottle wall.
