The fraud scandals in the United States provoked a
generalized
fear in the American stock market. The U.S. Congress
counter attack to solve the
problem was the Sarbane Oxley Law, which instituted a
series of changes in the
American regulations for public companies. In Brazil, the
CVM and the BACEN
had promulgated, respectively, Normative Instruction 308
and Resolution 3081,
with the same intention to establish new rules for the
public Brazilian companies,
aiming to increase the transparency and the corporative
governance of the market.
The new business-oriented regulations had modified the
environment of the firm
XPTO, having thus justified the act of an SWOT analysis of
the company.
