Culture is an element that shows its growing importance day after day; traces of its presence can be found even in the simplest acts, and with the current spread of information and ideas around the world, we also see this internationalization of culture. This work analyzed the effectiveness of the South Korean government’s public policies for cultural promotion and diplomacy in the internationalization of its culture and cultural products, seeking to demonstrate how this strategic effort managed to increase the country s soft power and boost its economy between 2010 and 2025. The study has an exploratory and descriptive nature, with a mixed methodological approach, based on a literary review on soft power, cultural diplomacy, and the internationalization of culture, and on the analysis of primary documents from government agencies and empirical studies related to trade and culture. The results show that the success of the Korean wave is the result of a coordinated effort between the State and the private sector, finding that investment in the cultural sector generated a measurable economic advantage, as evidenced by the exponential growth of exports from the sector. The study also demonstrated the conversion of cultural attraction into geopolitical influence, noted through the diplomatic use of South Korean artists in forums such as the UN. Based on the results, it is concluded that the South Korean case can establish a model for foreign policy and economic development, showing that culture, when treated strategically, can be a powerful tool for projection.
