The aggressive growth of e-commerce in recent years has created a new business opportunity
for micro, small and medium enterprises in developing countries, where they traditionally
have a lower survival rate. Having in mind the success of these businesses in this new and
competitive segment, sustainability appears as a major competitive advantage. A single case
study of a Brazilian sustainable products e-commerce firm was conducted, in order to
understand the opportunities e-commerce brings to micro companies as well as describe
already implemented sustainable business practices. Results include a thorough business
description of activities and supply chain, as well as a SWOT situational analysis. The
companys sustainability-oriented activities are identified and future strategies are drawn in
order to contribute to the companys sustainable development.
