Resumo:
The present study sought to identify the knowledge of Human Resources professionals about the concept of Emotional Intelligence, as well as its practical application in processes of selection of managers within organizations. To do so, we sought to understand the main definitions about the theme, according to the vision of its main authors and precursors. In addition, the main subcategories of Emotional Intelligence were analyzed, and which ones were most valued in the selection. In order to confront the theoretical revision, research was done on documents and interviews with different professionals in the field, who provided their perspectives and visions about the concept and its application. As a conclusion, it becomes clear the need for a deeper understanding of the topic within the selection practices, as well as tools that assist in a practical application of the same in interviews. However, the dissemination of the growing concept among these professionals, and their valorization in managerial competences, stands out.
