Created in 1998, Constança Basto is a female shoes brand inserted in a
business segment which has been continuously growing around the world for the
last years: the luxury segment. Assuming that in this segment consumers look for
personal pleasure, self – respect, status and prestige, it is fundamental to
understand these consumers behavior. Having this as a goal, this work intends
to analise the motives which influence in the purchase mechanism of the
Constança Basto shoes from the consumer s perspective. The study is based on
a theorical reference which analises In the following issues: the consumer
behavior, the luxury business segment in Brazil and around the world, the shoes
industry and the Constança Basto company. Afterhards, a research was realized
with aplication of a questionary for a better understanding of the consumer s
behavior of luxury shoes.
