This Undergraduate Thesis (TCC) is a comparative case study that
examines the internationalization strategies of Brazilian football through
the experiences of Botafogo and Flamengo, analyzing how different
management models shape the global projection of these clubs. Framed
within the context of the growing professionalization of football and the
transformation of clubs into global brands, the study seeks to demonstrate
how strategic initiatives, administrative decisions, and governance
structures, such as the Sociedade Anônima do Futebol (SAF) model and
the traditional associative model, influence their pathways toward
international expansion. Its main objective is to describe and reflect on the
institutional, commercial, and cultural dimensions involved in building an
international presence, considering actions such as overseas academies,
digital engagement, transnational partnerships, and participation in multiclub networks. The work dialogues with the field of International Relations
by addressing global brand flows, symbolic circulation, transnational
governance, and the role of diaspora communities in consolidating
sporting identities. In doing so, it aims to contribute both to academic
debates on sports internationalization and management models and to
broaden the understanding of how Brazilian clubs position themselves in
the global football landscape, offering an updated and comprehensive
international perspective on the sport.
