This study investigated currency risk management in a Brazilian telecommunications company, analyzing the gap between theoretical recommendations and adopted practices. Through qualitative research with experts and managers, it was identified that the organization operates without a formalized hedge policy, utilizing informal and reactive practices. Despite the availability of sophisticated instruments, cultural and organizational barriers limit the implementation of structured strategies. The study demonstrates potential for evolution through policy formalization, management training and cultural transformation.
