Sports betting has been gaining ground in the daily lives of Brazilians, driven by digitization and widespread publicity. Although associated with entertainment, this practice can have a negative impact on individuals financial lives. The study seeks to understand this phenomenon from a social and economic perspective. The research analyzed the profile, habits, and consequences of betting among participants. The objective was to analyze the impact of sports betting on the consumption behavior and indebtedness of the Brazilian population, identifying the motivations and profiles of bettors. To this end, a quantitative survey was conducted using a questionnaire applied to individuals with a betting habit, totaling 53 respondents. Thus, it was observed that the majority of bettors are young, follow sports frequently, and bet regularly. Many face difficulties in controlling their betting expenses, which contributes to financial imbalance. It was therefore concluded that sports betting has negatively affected the budgets of many individuals, potentially leading to indebtedness and family instability. The issue requires greater social awareness, adequate regulation, and financial education strategies.
