This work presents the development of a framework aimed at mitigating cybersickness
in virtual reality (VR) applications through the automated application of reduction techniques based on user and gameplay events. Despite the availability of various methods to alleviate cybersickness symptoms, there remains a lack of modular and easily integrable solutions for VR developers. The proposed framework, implemented as a Unity plugin, enables developers to configure mitigation techniques via a simplified interface without additional coding. Techniques such as Dynamic Field of View, Static Rest Frame, and Rotational Blurring are automatically triggered by specific in-game events, enhancing user comfort. A demonstration game was developed to validate the framework, and user tests showed a 18.75 percent reduction in cybersickness symptoms when the framework was employed. This solution seeks to streamline VR application development and improve user well-being, contributing to broader adoption of VR technology.
