Resumo:
This research was carried out with the objective of analyzing the relationship between obesity, personality and self-esteem. The responses of 14 men and 68 women were analyzed. These participants completed the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (EAR) and the Reduced Scale of Personality Descriptors (Red5). In the analysis of the data, the correlation between self-esteem, neuroticism, sociability, achievement, and openness was not obtained, but there was a significant correlation in the extroversion dimension. Although the other correlations were not confirmed by the study, we believe that the result is explained by the limits of a reduced instrument. In the discussion the correlation between obesity and extroversion was explained based on previous studies that obtained a similar result.
