The aim of this study was to analyze the impact of changes in the financial
structure of Clube de Regatas do Flamengo on the clubs Olympic sports.
Performance indicators were calculated, and an interview was conducted with the
former director of Olympic sports, Marcelo Vido (2013–2024), who confirmed the
shift in the management of the Olympic sports department and highlighted two
essential factors: long-term planning and the diversification of funding sources.
These measures became the foundation for new athlete signings and for
improvements in the Olympic sports infrastructure. The clubs performance at the
Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024 Olympic Games reflected the effectiveness of this
management model, as the clubs medal tally increased from a total of 3 to 6
medals in 2024. Furthermore, it is noteworthy that the club has in its roster the
most decorated Brazilian Olympian in history, Rebeca Andrade.
