Resumo:
Burnout syndrome, resulting from chronic workplace stress, was recognized by the WHO as an occupational disease in 2019, years after its conceptualization as a psychological disorder by Freudenberger in 1974, according to Fontes (2020). The increase in cases of this disorder, due to heightened competitiveness in the job market and higher unemployment rates that became more prevalent during the pandemic, has led to a surge in studies on this topic. Characterized by three dimensions: Emotional, Exhaustion, Depersonalization, and reduced Personal Accomplishment, this illness also features chronic emotional tension and stress caused by physically, emotionally, and psychologically taxing work conditions. The present study aims to analyze the literature on this subject, exploring its relationship with stress in organizations and emphasizing the factors influencing these disorders, with the intention of identifying strategic means to address these issues.
