Resumo:
Starting from a post-modern approach, this monograph will study 6 films produced, during different moments, in the United States that have as theme the Second World War or the Cold War with the intention of revealing, through the deconstruction method, the truth assumptions in the discourse regarding the Other, Nazi Germany and Soviet Union, found in these cinematographic productions, questioning the basis over witch they are settled. The cinema, as a mass means of communication of strong influence, is used as a way of (re)production of the logocentric discourse over the construction of the American identity over collective experiences, in this case, the view of the german and soviet societies as threats that needed to be eliminated. This happens due to the fact that the sovereign State, that provides identity through the sense of belonging, doesn t posses basis for it s existence, since it was constructed to answer a historically specific need, and requires to be reaffirmed through the definition of who belongs inside and who belongs outside it s frontiers. The conclusion drawn is that because this discourse is understood as unquestionable ands totalizing truth, the US reach their goal of marginalizing those called Others. Those enemies, defined as Others, as history proves, vary and are judged according to the north American foreign policy interests in a entirely arbitrary way.
