This dissertation intends to analyze the actions both from state agencies
and private enterprises, with regard to the export of Brazilian cinema, to assess
the strength and the importance of state encouragement over the national
cinema industry, and if it will be able to hold after its most recent rebirth. The
theoretical foundation derives from the Soft PowerTheory, by Joseph S. Nye
Jr, which discourses about the indirect influence over behavior and desires of
political groups through cultural and ideological means.
