This Policy Brief aims to illustrate how the process of globalization has facilitated commercial relations through networks. In light of this, the research will analyze how China has led the global e-commerce revolution, as well as investigating the emergence of Taobao Villages, their impact on rural communities and international e-commerce. In addition, the Policy Brief will explore future scenarios for the topic, seeking to contribute with policy recommendations for countries wishing to implement their own Taobao Villages. Finally, a qualitative research approach was adopted, through a literature review on the topic under discussion, as well as consultations with official government documents from the countries involved in the research.
