Resumo:
The climate crisis is a reality in the world and, in order to remedy this scenario, countries have been investing in strategies to decarbonize their economies, with hydrogen emerging as an important clean energy resource in the medium and long term for highly polluting sectors, although different issues, such as high production costs, logistical shortcomings and commercial obstacles, need to be addressed in order to guarantee the product s full inclusion in the international economy. With this in mind, this paper proposes a focus on the Brazilian and European realities of hydrogen production and consumption, highlighting a favorable outlook for the coming years that could promote closer ties between the two regions, to be taken advantage of by their public authorities and the private sector. A diagnosis of the Brazilian context reveals the country s vocation as a major producer and exporter of green hydrogen, while Europe s picture shows the need for imports of the product to fully supply the demand of its economic sectors for renewable energy resources. Finally, the use of a SWOT analysis made it possible to recognize incentives and obstacles to the insertion of Brazilian hydrogen into the European market, indicating, in short, the great potential for complementarity between Brazil and Europe in the nascent hydrogen economy.
