It is observed the number of investors in the capital market have increased in recent
years with the advancement of technology and the dissemination of information about
investments, in a way Brazilian investors have become more aware of the opportunities
available in the market. In addition, investors have been seeking to allocate a portion of their resources to stocks in order to achieve more significant long-term returns. Thus, the present study aimed to analyze whether Décio Bazin s investment philosophy in dividend stocks would be able to outperform the Bovespa index in the long term. For this purpose,
exploratory research was conducted based on data from 2014 to 2024 regarding the historical quotation of selected stocks and the Bovespa index, as well as the dividends distributed during this period by these companies. Given this, it was possible to calculate and compare the profitability of the stock portfolio with the Ibovespa during the period; thus, it is concluded that Décio Bazin s investment philosophy outperforms the benchmark in the long term.
